“This is a dream job: reading, thinking about, and talking to people about books. That these books address questions of meaning, how to live, and how to make the world a better place, is extraordinarily rewarding.” — Kelly Hughes, president, DeChant-Hughes & Associates, Inc.
Kelly Hughes has more than 25 years experience in book publicity and has successfully launched hundreds of books. She is personally involved in every project the agency handles, giving every client the time and attention they deserve.
Publishers and authors often call upon Kelly for consulting and publicity training. She has conducted workshops for publishers including Baker Publishing Group, Westminster John Knox Press, and Loyola Press, and has presented at BookExpo, the Calvin Festival of Faith and Writing, the Buechner Writer’s Workshop, and the AAR/SBL annual meeting. She has been quoted in articles on publishing trends in Publishers Weekly and other publications.
A native of Chicago's South Side where she still lives (and therefore, a White Sox fan from birth), Kelly is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago. She is involved in community efforts including ESL tutoring.
We’re dedicated to adding your voice to the conversation and making sure that your book gets the attention it deserves. Our customized publicity campaigns start with the book. We read it cover-to-cover so that we have a complete understanding of the work and can pinpoint the most newsworthy hooks. Our press materials and pitches show not only do we get you, we get the media. DHA handpicks media lists for each project from our extensive contacts. We engage thoughtfully with the media on your behalf, working with persistence and passion to secure optimal media coverage.
